JOB TITLE: Student Marketing Fellow
Primary Function:
The student marketing fellows shall demonstrate an interest in promoting free society principles. The student fellow will develop professionally by:
- assisting the Institute in developing, promoting and executing its public events.
- promoting free society principles in electronic and/or print media.
- enhancing his or her professional network and networking skills.
Source of Supervision:
The student fellow will report directly to the Institute's senior director and will also receive instruction from Institute staff.
Expectations:
Fellows are expected to:
- write a biography of 350 words for use in Institute publicity efforts.
- work an average of 19 hours per month.
- submit hours worked through MyGCC timecard portal.
- assist in the planning, promotion and execution of Institute activities (on campus).
- engage in promoting free society ideas via social media.
- attend marketing meetings on a weekly basis.
- expand their professional networks by taking at least on trip with Institute personnel (all expenses paid by the Institute) and by connecting with student fellows alumni.
- report professional advancements such as internships, full-time employment, graduate school enrollment and awards.
- occasionally assist with web site content management.
- assist with Institute events including the Foundations of American Leadership luncheon, Reagan lecture and annual conference.
- read Institute opinion editorials.
- enroll, if time allows, in the Institute's annual conference course.
- understand the Koch Associates and Internships programs.
- upon graduation, participate in the student fellows alumni network and assist on-campus fellows.
- participate in a professional evaluation once each semester with the senior director.
Evaluation:
Fellows will meet weekly with the senior director and the communications and events coordinator. Periodically, individual work effort will be assessed.
